About RCKC

The Ridge Canoe & Kayak Club has been operating aquatic sports programs on Whonnock Lake since 1982. We offer programs to all levels, generally starting at the age of 8 years old, all the way up to 80+ years. Our youth programs range from introductory summer camps and spring classes (introducing athletes to basic paddling skills and water safety), to competitive programs which allow the opportunity to learn advanced paddling and racing techniques. Our adult programs also accommodate participants of all skill levels, from our introductory "Adult Learn to Kayak" program and Adult Dragonboat Program to our more competitive Masters program, our programs provide a high level of instruction for all levels, while emphasizing the enjoyment of fitness in an outdoor setting.

The Ridge Canoe and Kayak club is a member of Canoe Kayak BC, which is the provincial governing body of the sport of canoeing in BC. RCKC is also a member club of Canoe Kayak Canada, which is the national sport organization which supports canoeing across Canada.

RCKC is a non-profit sports society governed by an executive board of volunteers for the community's benefit. We provide training for athletes of all levels with the primary goal to produce athletes who are competing at Local, Provincial, National & Olympic levels. The club hires a staff of paid coaches who are constantly striving for excellence. We currently employ 2 full time coaches on a year round basis, as well as 2 other full time instructors in the summer months and 2-3 part time summer coaches.
