Meeting for a new boathouse building.

 

Staff Description

If you ask any of the executives or the coaches, you will find that they are happy to help! Here is a description of each function.

 

Executive Board

Commodore

The leader of the club. Manages the coaching staff. Communicates with CanoeKayak BC, CanoeKayak Canada, International Canoe Federation, and other related organizations. Communicates with the membership on club events and club information.

Vice Commodore

The second in line after the Commodore as leader of the club. In a situation when the Commodore cannot continue, the Vice Commodore will take charge.

Treasurer

Looks after the finances and the accounts.

Secretary

Records meeting minutes, and ensures documents are kept up to date.

Past Commodore

Serves as a mentor for the Commodore. In a situation when both the Commodore and the Vice Commodore cannot continue, the Past Commodore will take charge.

Director At Large

Fills in when another executive is away. Takes charge of other activities.

 

Coaching Staff

Head Coach

Decides how the competitive athletes are to be trained. Determines the program, the location, and the schedule.

Assistant Coach

Second in line after the Head Coach in deciding the training program for the competitive athletes.

 

Volunteers

Program Coordinator

Promotes the training programs, and the beginning programs. Coordinates the programs for beginning paddlers and intermediate paddlers. Works with the Head Coach to coordinate the competitive training programs.

Coach Liaison

Resolves a disagreement between an athlete and a coach if an agreement could not be met.

Safety Officer

Ensures equipment and trained attendants are in place in case of an emergency. Looks after safety measures for the athletes and paddlers.

Boat Maintenance

Repairs damaged boats and replaces parts. Maintains the boats so that the athletes will perform well on the water.

Chief Official

In charge of the volunteers during a regatta. Ensures the timers, starters, and all others are at the right place and in the right time.

Web Master

Maintains the web site. Shares information on programs, events, and news.
